HLP Scores Another Arbitration Win

Lead Counsel Damon Gunnels and associate attorney Mariya Davis represented an HLP general contractor client in a week long arbitration in late January of this year.  The dispute involved a cabinet supplier and installer for a multifamily project in Athens, GA.  The subcontractor performed shoddy work and refused to continue work after a very long covid induced project suspension.  The client was forced to bond of the subcontractor’s lien for several years and procure alternative materials and labor to complete the subcontractor’s scope of work.  The subcontractor offered a variety of excuses and theories for why it was entitled to refuse performance.  None prevailed.

After a weeklong arbitration and post arbitration briefing, the arbitrator ruled in favor of our client awarding all completion costs, bond costs and prejudgment interest.  It was a complete victory for the client.
